Frances Marion Jones, of Knoxville, was born July 26, 1924, in Knoxville to Frank Frush Jenkins, Sr. and Lois (Overton) Jenkins.
Frances attended East Ward School through the third grand and Brownlee Country School through the eighth grade. Frances would rest on a rock going to and from country school, and the enormous rock now sits at the family house on South Fifth Street. Frances graduated from Knoxville High School in 1942.
On March 3, 1948, Frances was united in marriage to Leonard Lawry Jones.
Frances worked for Bellamy Telephone Company as a supervisor for 10 years until son Dennis was born. She then stayed home to raise her family and first learned to drive after son Ron was born.
Frances was a life member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Frances passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016, at Wesley Life Cottages in Pella at the age of 91 years.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Dennis, and her siblings: Mary Harris, William Jenkins, Sr., and Frank Jenkins, Jr.; and her great-grandson, Benjamin Brooks
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Carolan (Charles) Brooks, Ron, Mike (Lisa), and Steve (Carolyn) Jones; daughter-in-law Tanya Jones; ten grandchildren: Heidi Brooks, Brian (Bre) Brooks, Josh Jones, Jessica Moon, Sarah Jones, Eric Jones, Shane (Jenn) Jones, Seth Jones, Pete Collins, and Cari Collins; great-grandchildren: Brynlee and Brody Brooks and Phoenix and Sydney Jones; siblings: John (Judy) Jenkins, Steve (Phyllis) Jenkins, and Jeanne Smith; sisters-in-law: Audrey Jenkins, Lucretia Spaur, Lilly (Dick) Sterling, and Louretta Redding; brother-in-law Hubert Parker; and many other cherished family members and friends.
Funeral visitation will begin after 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 22, 2016, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Funeral service for Frances will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville, with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Grand Theater Foundation or the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville.
