Sheila Rae (VandeKamp) Heck was born August 22, 1937 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Clarence “Bus” VandeKamp and Velta Mae (Burt) VandeKamp.

She was raised in Knoxville and attended Knoxville Schools. On October 9, 1954 Sheila was united in marriage to Paul LeRoy Heck in Osceola, Iowa. The couple first lived in Columbia and later moved to Melcher-Dallas. Sheila was a homemaker. Following the death of her husband, Sheila was a home health aide for 12 years, retiring in 1998.

Family was the most important part of Sheila’s life. She cherished her children, grandchildren and siblings. She and Sheryl also enjoyed several trips to Kansas to visit their sister.

Sheila passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at her home in Melcher-Dallas, at the age 78 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; parents; and siblings: Shirley Hull, Donna and Dixie VandeKamp; John VandeKamp and Shelby Caley.

Those left to cherish Sheila’s memory include her children: Paula (Gary) Smith of Beaconsfield, Iowa; Russell (Karen) Heck of Melcher, Iowa; Lynn (Dwight) Kelderman of Knoxville and Richard (Teresa) Heck of Pleasantville; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Sheryl (Billie) Hunt of Knoxville; brother-in-law, Mike Mikelson and many other family members and friends.

Funeral service for Sheila Heck, age 78 of Melcher-Dallas,
will be held on Tuesday, April 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in
the Graceland Cemetery.
