Geraldine Rae (Agan) Heck, age 89, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Westridge Specialty Care in Knoxville.

Geri was born on February 4, 1929, northeast of Columbia, Iowa to Raymond and Ferne (King) Agan. She attended Elm Grove rural school and later Knoxville High School, graduating in 1947.

After high school, Geri worked at the Roberts General Store in Columbia. In 1950, she began working at the J.C. Penney store in Knoxville and continued until it was destroyed by a fire. Geri was united in marriage to Claude (Junior) Heck, Jr. on November 18, 1950 at the Columbia Methodist Church. Together, they farmed in the Columbia area until moving to Knoxville.

Geri worked for Spahn & Rose Lumber in Knoxville for many years and later worked for Pearson Bros. Lumber. After retirement, she worked part-time at McDonald’s in Knoxville. Geri enjoyed crocheting afghans and sweaters and especially loved giving them away as gifts. She stayed active as a farmwife and enjoyed gardening. Geri loved her family and will be greatly missed by them all.

Visitation for Geri will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville from 10:00 ~ 11:30 A.M., with family present to greet relatives and friends. Following visitation, the family will proceed to the cemetery and a graveside service will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville at 11:45 A.M.

Those left to cherish Geri’s memory include her devoted husband, Claude “Junior” Heck, Jr.; two sisters: Leta Nichols and Marjorie Clark; two sisters-in-law; Marilyn (Harold) Moon and Carolou Hall; also many nieces and nephews.Geraldine Agan 3

Geri is preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Ferne (King) Agan; one brother, Duane Agan; one sister-in-law, Delores Agan; and four brothers-in-law: Paul Heck, Orville Hall, Bob Nichols, and Fred Clark.

Memorials may be given to Geri’s family and will be distributed with love in her memory on a later date.
