Larry Warren Stone, 81, of Olive Branch, Mississippi passed away on July 29, 2026.
He was born May 3, 1945, in Lake City, Iowa to Roy and Myrtle (Tannehill) Stone. Larry graduated from Knoxville High School in Knoxville, Iowa in 1963.
On February 13, 1965, Larry married the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Stone at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, Iowa. They shared 58 years of marriage before Judy’s death on March 12, 2023.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy for over 20 years, including active combat service in the Vietnam war. He then went to work for the US Department of Defense for over 20 years before retiring.
Larry’s favorite things were spending time with his family, traveling. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course.
He is survived by his sons, John W. Stone of Honolulu, Hawaii; James W. Stone and his wife Kelly of Memphis, Tennessee; his grandson Hayden Stone of Memphis, Tennessee; his sister Mary Minard (Jim) of Dallas, Texas.
Preceding Larry in death was his beloved wife Judith “Judy” Stone; parents, Roy and Myrtle (Tannehill) Stone and in-laws John and Teresa Gutcher; and his brothers, Robert, Steven, and Michael Stone.

Larry’s quiet strength, steadfast character, and deep love and devotion for his family and country will live on as an enduring legacy in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, with Father Issac Essel officiating. Interment with military honors provided by the American Legion of Albia, Lovilia, and Melrose, will follow the service in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albia.
