Our mom, Sherry Sharp, was one of a kind. She was bold, stylish, opinionated in the best way, and the kind of woman you noticed the minute she walked into a room.

She passed away on February 28, 2026, at Accura HealthCare in Pleasantville, Iowa, and while our hearts are heavy, we are so proud to call her ours.

Mom was born on May 18, 1946, in Chariton, Iowa, to Duane and Dolores Agan. She grew up near the busy little community of Columbia alongside her two younger brothers, Craig and Chris. She attended grade school in Columbia and graduated with the tight-knit Knoxville High School Class of 1964. Not long after, she headed to Omaha, Nebraska, to attend business school – something that fit her perfectly. Mom always liked to stay busy and do things well.

In 1965 she met our dad, Jim Sharp. They were married in 1966 and went on to build a beautiful life together, spending most of their 59 years of marriage in Columbia and Indianola. Their marriage was steady, strong, and full of laughter, friends, and travel. Mom loved to shop and she loved to dress up. Bright colors, big jewelry, and outfits that made a statement – that was her. Her home reflected her personality too: bold, welcoming, and never boring. If you walked into her house, you felt it right away. It was warm and it was hers.

Mom worked hard throughout her life. She was employed with an electrical company that helped build the new 3M plant in Knoxville, and later she joined the Clerk of Court office in Knoxville. She eventually became the Clerk of Court in Warren County, serving faithfully until her retirement in 2009. She took pride in her work and made many lifelong friendships along the way.

But if you asked her what mattered most, it was always family. Her grandkids were her pride and joy. She loved loading them up for trips to Adventureland, cheering at ball games, and showing up for whatever they were involved in. She was present. She was loud in the stands. She was proud. And she never missed a chance to tell them how much she loved them.

She leaves behind her sons: Barry (Colleen) Sharp and Brent (Mary) Sharp; her grandchildren: Clint (Addie) Sharp, Matt (Liz) Sharp, Rachael (Jake) Hintz, Jake (Alyssa) Sharp, and Tanner (Mikayla) Sharp; and her treasured great-grandchildren: Ryker, Asher, Emersyn, Ava, Ellie, Maisie, Lennon, and Gia. She is also survived by her brothers, Craig (Pat) Agan and Chris (Sue) Agan, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who meant so much to her.

She was preceded in death by our dad, Jim Sharp in August of 2025, they have never spent an anniversary apart; and her parents, Duane and Delores.Sheeryl Agan

Mom taught us how to show up for family, how to make a house feel like home, and how to have a little fun along the way. She wasn’t quiet about her opinions, she didn’t shy away from color, and she never did anything halfway. We will miss her laugh, her style, her strength, and the way she made all of us feel like we belonged.

We love you, Mom. Always.
