Bill Adams, 89, of Knoxville, passed away May 23, 2020, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa.
William Lewis Adams, son of Clifford B. and Aliza (Toom) Adams, was born January 20, 1931, in Knoxville, Iowa.
He married (Phyllis) Ann Seitz, October 12, 1952, in Garden Grove, Iowa. They made their home in Newton, Iowa, where Bill was employed at Maytag.
In 1976, they moved to the family farm north of Knoxville and built a retirement home on a small acreage. Bill enjoyed living in the country, bird watching, and maintaining the acreage. Upon retirement, Bill and Ann traveled the Unites States extensively and took several cruises.
Bill was a member of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton. In October of 2019, Bill and Ann moved to the Vriendschap Village in Pella.
Bill’s family includes his wife, Ann; his three sons: Mike & Mary Ann Adams of Swisher, Iowa, Steve & Michelle Adams of Newton, Iowa, and Jim & Penny Adams of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two grandchildren: Wade & Jen Adams; Michelle & Eric Leichtman; three step-grandchildren: Cassie & Chad Ferree; Cody & Amber Adams; Sam & Toria Adams; three great-grandchildren: Tyler Adams, and Addie and Cohen Lechtman; four step-great-grandchildren: Charlie and Cora Ferree, Araina and Paisley Adams. Bill is also survived by a brother, Don Adams of Colorado, and sister, Peg Filliman of Arizona.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Adams; and two sisters: Jeanie Wilson and Bette Blackman.
As was his wish, Bill’s body has been cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with Bill’s arrangements.
