A Celebration of Life Gathering for Sherry Gist, 62, of Knoxville, will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Sherry Lynn Gist, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 62.
Sherry was born on November 10, 1963, to Jerry Lee Sharp and Karen R. Lankford. She grew up in Knoxville, Iowa, where she attended local schools and proudly graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1982.
Throughout her life, Sherry was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She was employed at ALCO, worked in banking, and later at Pella Corporation a place she truly loved and took great pride in working for.
Work was important to Sherry, but her greatest joy was always her home and family. On June 28, 1985, Sherry married the love of her life, Millard Gist. Together they built a life centered on family. Sherry was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a grandma who cherished time with her grandchildren, forming especially close bonds with her grandkids during their younger years.
Sherry had many simple pleasures. She was a loyal Miami Dolphins fan, enjoyed Lifetime movies, and followed popular television series such as The Walking Dead. In later years, her granddaughter Gabby introduced her to horror and independent films, something Sherry grew to enjoy and share with her.
Sherry will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her deep love for her family, and the quiet, steady way she showed up for the people she loved. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her mother, Karen Lankford; her sons, Chris Gist, Curtis Gist, and Josh Gist; brothers: Dale Sharp, Steven Sharp, and Jerry (Meredith) Lankford; sisters: Debbie (Ed) Cross, Sherry (Eric) Robinson, and Renae Lankford; her beloved grandchildren: Gage, Curtis and Gabby.
