Robert “Bob” Lee Gee, 93 years old, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Canon City, Colorado. He was a loving husband, a proud father and an honored veteran.

Bob was born on January 7, 1924 in Knoxville, Iowa to Ralph Gee and Maude (Crouch) Gee. He was the youngest of 8 children all of whom preceded him in death.
Having received his draft notice from the United States Army, Bob married Harriett Hartshorn on January 24, 1943 in Knoxville, Iowa. He reported for duty on February 23,1943 and served his country proudly in the South Pacific during WWII achieving the rank of Sgt. before being honorably discharged in late 1945.

After returning home, he went to work for the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville where he retired 30 years later. Always wanting to provide for his family, he would sometimes work two or three extra jobs.
For the past five years, he has lived near his son Robert in Canon City, Colorado where he still enjoyed living on his own. With the exception of his time in Colorado and his military service overseas, Bob lived his entire life in Knoxville, Iowa.

Prior to his move to Colorado, Bob served 19 years as Commissioner on the board of Marion County Commission of Veteran Affairs where he enjoyed helping veterans of all ages improve their lives and receive the benefits to which they were entitled
Bob had a heart full of love for his family and was immensely proud of each of his children. He is survived by his four children: Robert “Bob” & Karen (Coy) Gee of Canon City, Colorado; Irene & John Watson of Des Moines, Iowa; Diane & Jim Shank of Woodbury, Minnesota; Rev. Larry & Bernice (Harris) Gee of Clarksville, Ohio.
Bob is also survived by four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received for visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26th in Knoxville, Iowa at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Graceland Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. following the visitation.
