Dolores Darlene (Sherwood) Becker was born on November 14, 1943 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Kermit E. Sherwood and Mable I. Loynachan Sherwood.
She was raised in Knoxville and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1961 at the age of seventeen years. Dolores was in the real estate business with her parents from the ages of 12 to 21.
On September 2, 1962 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Ray Becker at the Methodist Church in Knoxville.
Over the years, she was involved in many business ventures with Lloyd including Knoxville Suzuki-Kawasaki, Becker Roofing and Becker Realty. She was very proud to have raised top Morgan horses after her retirement. She was an avid lover of animals and all God’s creatures and will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Dolores passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Mercy Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 72 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother on January 2, 1974, father on May 1, 1993, son, Jonathan Lloyd on October 15, 1998, and one brother in infancy Jerry Dean Sherwood.
Those left to honor her memory include her loving husband of 53 years, Lloyd; three sons: Joseph Ray and Brenda of Pella, Gene and Jane of Knoxville, and Patrick James of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Merna Bishop of Tennessee; one brother, Paul Sherwood of Knoxville; four grandchildren: Jacob Joseph, MacKenzie Kay, Carly Renee and Kimberly Jane and many other cherished family members and friends.
Funeral Services for Dolores Becker, age 72 of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
