Services for Donald Carleton Balmer, 57, who died December 30, 1980, in Columbia, Iowa were held January 3, 1981, at Williams Funeral Home.

The interment was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Marion County. Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Elder Arthur Nichols officiated at the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry, the organist.

Pallbearers were Jerry Balmer, John Irving, Bob McCorkle, James Mc Corkle, Terry Nielsen, and Lee Roberts.

Mr. Balmer was born September 2, 1923, in Red Rock, Iowa, the son of Ora Melle Balmer and Beatrice Marshall.

He was married to Helen Myrtie Grater in 1945 in Parowan, Utah.
He was a World War II veteran.

He was a carpenter by trade until stricken with Polio. After almost complete paralysis of both arms, he began to raise bees, a large garden, and did fur trapping and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Burton Balmer, and a sister, Vivian Estella Karr.

He is survived by his four sons, Ronald of Knoxville, Marvin of Leadville, Colo., and Charles of Montrose, Colo. And Dwight of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Nora Key of Montrose, Colo. And Lyla Marker of Germany; and six grandchildren.
