Wayne was born May 29, 1909 in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Stanley and Minnie Bingaman Applegate.

He and Jane Buttrey were married March 4, 1939 in the Methodist parsonage in Albia, Iowa. They moved to the home farm in April of that year.

They farmed until ill health forced his retirement in 1971.
They moved to Knoxville December 1st, 1980.

Corwin Wayne Applegate died Tuesday October 22, 1983, Officiating were Rev. Wayne Hoehns and Rev. William Travis. Jim Kidder, Organist played the Hymns "Abide Wtith Me, and "Beyond the Sunset".

Wayne is survived by his wife, two sisters; Mrs. Theo Spaur and Mrs. Georgia Long both of Knoxville, one brother, Wyatt of Knoxville.

Casketbearers were Gary Clingman, Jim Worrall, Donnie Hunnerdosse, Chris Clingman Duane Bingaham and Bob Spaur. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Radio Fund.

Wayne was a life time member of the Concord Methodist Church.
