Stuart McAdam

Stuart McAdamReturn to Class of 1970

07/02/2024
Born on January 20, 1952 in Palo Alto, California. Passed away on July 02, 2024, in Prescott, Arizona.

Son of Alexander and Frances McAdam. Brother to Douglas, Bruce, and Gregory.
Stuart is survived by his children Ryan McAdam and Erin Collins.

Stuart’s childhood was that of an adventurous “army brat” in league with his three older brothers.

His family’s peregrinations included California, Colorado, Iowa, Georgia, and Arizona.

Demonstrating only a modest interest in post-secondary education, Stuart went on to make other plans.

He met a girl, fell in love, married, and had two healthy children.

He began his career as a clerk at the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad working the graveyard shift in the rail yard to provide for his new family.

This would be the start of a professional journey that eventually brought him into the main office as an ISS Coordinator for Alliant Transportation-still helping to move freight trains to their destinations.
Stuart McAdam
Stuart excelled at golf, scoring no fewer than two holes-in-one during his later years.

He was a lover of music: winning a twist dance contest as a child, playing guitar in a high school band, singing tenor in the church choir; spinning Steely Dan records on a Friday night.
He enjoyed college sports and always tuned in to watch his beloved Hawkeyes.

His retirement in Arizona was enriched deeply by his friendships at Prescott Lakes.
Retirement also provided him time to travel, visiting old friends in Iowa and his family out West.

He will be greatly missed.

At Stuart’s request, no funeral or memorial service is scheduled.
