Robert Dale Brooks, 88, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 2, 2021.
He was born May 24, 1932, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of J. Ray and Clarice Brooks.
He was united in marriage to Dottie Power on April 22, 1961, in Northbrook, Illinois. They had three beautiful daughters, Debbie, Peggy, and Judy. Bob served in the United States Army as a corporal from February 1953 to February 1955.
He spent his career as vice president of Brooks Advertising, Inc. in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He was a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, watching sports, taking family movies, attending his daughter’s and grandchildren’s events, and spending time with his family. He retired in 1998 to his family farm west of Knoxville, Iowa.
Bob is survived by Debbie and Clint Kowalik and their daughter, Francesca; Peggy Dolce and her family: Corenna, Jake, Emma Rae and Gabe Allen, Clint Dolce, Calyssa, Tim and Liam Foster and Caitriana Dolce; Judy and Marc Johnson and their family, Michelle and Eric Johnson; sister-in-law, Midge Brooks; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Joyce Brooks; sister, Barbara and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dottie; parents, J. Ray and Clarice Brooks; in-laws, Harry and Dorothy Power; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Ellis Jordan; brother and sister-in-law, James and Jo Brooks; brother, Benny Brooks; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Gene Stevenson; brother-in-law, Larry Petersen, and son-in-law, Mike Dolce.
A funeral service for Robert D. Brooks, age 88 of Knoxville, will be held Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Iowa.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to EveryStep Hospice.
