Elsie Irene (Rittierodt) Shoop, age 95, of Elgin former many-year resident of Gilberts passed away on Sunday morning, May 1, 2022, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin surrounded by her loving family.
Elsie was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on July 27, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Fritz & Minnie (nee Vogt) Rittierodt. Elsie was a resident of the Gilberts/ Elgin areas for 65 years.
Prior to retirement, she worked as the bookkeeper and office manager of her husband’s excavating company G.L. Excavating.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicky (Nick) Klaras; her grandchildren, Lori (Steve) Rodeback, Jennifer (Tim) Wrzek, Jason Klaras, and Aimee Klaras; her great-grandchildren: Corey (Kyra) Shoop, McKinzie (Dan) Freund, Corey Woodward, Kaitlyn Woodward, Kari (Tyler) Line, Brian Watson, Amiya Jackson, Cyrie Klaras and Logan Klaras; her great-great-grandchildren, Theo and Otis Palermo, Charlie and Bennett Shoop, Grayson Freund, Forest Line, and Ryleigh Shoop.
Other survivors include her brother, Gordon Rowe, her 2 nephews, and 3 nieces.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband of almost 52 years, Gerald L. “Jerry “ Shoop on January 22, 2003; her son, Larry W. Shoop on September 7, 1969; her brother, Richard Rittierodt; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Shoop, and her 2 sisters in law, Sharon Rowe and Wilma Karr.
Elsie’s family will be mourning their loss privately. There will be no public visitation or services.
Burial will be in the Dundee Township East Cemetery in East Dundee.
