Don Ray Wensel, son of Karl and Hildreth Wensel, lost his fight against cancer and heart disease.
He was living in Port Charlotte, Florida, and died on July 8, 2023.
Growing up in the Marion County area and attending Knoxville schools, graduating in 1962.
He was united in marriage to Lela Mae Simmons, the daughter of Ardery D. (1909-1989) and Jean Elizabeth Chambers Simmons.
On April 1, 2015, Don married Kay Bolick. Having also lived in Colorado Springs, Co. enjoyed fishing, hunting, boats, and time at the shooting club.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Lela Simmons, who died in Jan 2015, his son, Chad, and his parents, Karl and Hildreth Wensel.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Wensel, brother, Max, KHS Class of 1956, (Maxine Clayton) Wensel,
sister, KHS Class of 1952, Barbara, (Ron) Severns, extended family, and so many friends.
There will be no services.
Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of the arrangements.
